Microwave in the Bath was an impromptu film collaboration between my sister, Gabi Broekema, and me in Wausau, Wisconsin. With the takeover of the commercial industry in the arts, the pressure to create something with meaning can be all-consuming. I took a chance to explore contemporary choreography for what felt right in my body and filmed with two experimental one-takes.

Where does the love go? is a concept work in progress marrying ballet and club culture. After leaving my career as a ballerina in 2019, I was introduced to the house music scene in New York City. I wanted to explore why social dance came with such joy and ease, while ballet often comes with intensity and unrealistic expectations. I intentionally cast a diverse group of ballerinas who all bring their variations of unconventional relationships with the industry.
